While the goal was to take a word-painting of dark , the challenge is that every exposure require some brightness . This image was catch of a colored street with an iPhone 5S. It was then processed in Paint.net 4.0.3 to change over it to B&W , contrast adjust , and also reduce the noise .

Maine Snow Storm
I was visiting Maine this week during the first snow storm of the year . The connected exposure was take from my Padre ’s private road in Bucksport , Maine on November 3 , 2014 . I used a Canon 7D with a Sigma 10 mm fisheye , 100 ISO , F/4 , 30 2nd exposure .
This street rarely experience traffic at night , so this was an interesting and unique opportunity to capture the lighting of a individual railway car travel on a snowy wooded Maine road . The only other visible light is moonlight .

Angry Sunrise
This is an angry sunrise near my parents ’ position . I was actually out to shoot another location since the sunshine was in the incorrect spot for this one , but then the clouds came roll in and since I was done with the other location , I moved to this one . The field have n’t been harvested for that long and shuttle are still clean them out , so after a few test shots I just waited for a flight of stairs to be in the right post .

Saturday sunup , my two - yr sure-enough girl woke up a little before than I would have like – I tried to win over her that because it was still drab outdoors , we should go back to sleep , and brought her down to our bed . No die , but at least her typeface look middling cool get off up by the alarm clock that she insisted on dragging into the bed . Taken with the iPhone 5S that lies next to the bed ( veritable camera app ) and minor adjustments to lessen photograph and sharpen in Photoshop .

This is a ikon of a street light at the Department of Labor ’s main office in DC . I ’ve always loved their 1970 ’s design but now that it ’s getting dark so early , I get to experience them in their lit up glory . I used a Leica X2 ( it has a 35 mm equivalent heyday ) at f4 , 1/60 shutter , and ISO 400 . I rested the camera on the lamp Emily Post and shot appear straightaway up .

Pippet Selfie
I used to work at a studio call Curious Pictures which went through some hard times and during its terminal week was throwing all sort of old stop question puppets in a dumpster . I was there to acquire some equipment and see these puppets in the trash and took them home because they looked too special to end up in a landfill . I pick up they are from a 1990 ’s commercial for the food grain “ Oh ’s ” ( you’re able to see the “ Oh ’s ” mold cereal nuggets in the lady ’s necklace ) and looked so creepy , out of linguistic context , that I took them home to scare my roommate . After my fun , I put them in warehousing and kept thinking they would be useful at some detail , and when I understand your photo contest , I fancy this might be their metre to shine once again . I had a lot of fun shooting these , I go for they bring you as much joy as they brought me .
My girlfriend , very gifted , also took photos ( and is also submitting ) of these puppet while we were cling out with friends tonight . She zero in on one puppet and feel like she take a more interesting jibe , however , I wanted to use both puppet to paint a scene and went for more of a “ creature selfie ” and palpate it is FAR SUPERIOR 😉

I am easily unhinge by lustrous objects and this vintage 12 string was all grim and clean and chrome . I thought it would make a perfect subject for this week ’s challenge . flash with one light , the subject was about four foot from the rampart which received no light . If anyone would care more about photographic camera mise en scene and lighting , please contact Ms. FOOP , who , last week , was so adamant that no one care about such information . I ’m sure she can compute out exactly how this was taken and would be glad to partake in .

Using my droid maxx phone I was n’t indisputable how great I could capture “ dark ” but when I came across this very narrow staircase I was very activated to try and capture something interesting . My brother illuminated the bottom few steps with a light which dramatically light up the stairs to show them leading into the darkness .
