Films rooter catch some Z’s on Doctor Sleep . Even withrelatively positive reviewsand DNA from bothStephen King and Stanley Kubrick , the film has grossed barely over $ 70 million worldwide . Ouch . And yet , writer and director Mike Flanaganbelieves in it — to the point that the film ’s get an excess - long excision when it comes home .
As he should ! The movie is neat , expertly blendingStephen King ’s original version of The Shining and its sequel withthe popular Stanley Kubrick movieversion of that story — which the film will presumably build on with this new , three - minute director ’s cutincluding in Doctor Sleep ’s menage loss next month , giving hearing more Ewan McGregor , more Rebecca Ferguson , and credibly more creepy-crawly shine material . We do n’t lie with what ’s in it , we ’re just reckon that ’s a safe assumption to make as to what ’s in the add 28 or so minutes .
