First announced last October , Adobe Fresco is the company ’s next - generation picture and illustration app for lozenge that harnesses AI smarts to allow artist to work with digital tools that behave and feel like traditional brushwood and paints . We got an early look at the app before its release later this year , and while it ’s miss a few key lineament , it ’s still an exciting spirit at the next big evolution of wandering devices like the iPad .

I ’ve been using Adobe software like Photoshop and Illustrator for over 20 year now , and the first matter that stands out when you open Adobe Fresco is that its interface feels very familiar ; especially when compare to Adobe ’s exist mobile apps which are lightweight reading of the party ’s desktop universe dick , stripped down and optimized for tiny covert and finger’s breadth taps .
Fresco ’s user interface is n’t a verbatim copy of what you ’ll find on Adobe ’s desktop apps , but it ’s still very recognisable and make do to balance the two approach quite well . Adobe ’s familiar perpendicular toolbar can be found on the left over side of the screen , while a streamlined version of Photoshop and Illustrator ’s bed stack is on the right .

The Live Brush feature film is really fun to play with , but it also allow for traditional artists to carry overfamiliar workflows to the digital world , such as manually mixing paints on the canvas to make new shades .
What ’s even more interesting about Adobe Fresco is that it give us a first feeling at Adobe ’s efforts to not just replicate its familiar UI on tablets , but advance it by taking advantage of the unique capabilities of a touchscreen machine . you’re able to rapidly untie your last edit by simply doubly - tap the screen with two fingers , and tapping the Apple Pencil twice brings up Fresco ’s colouration picker .
