Boeing ’s Sonic Cruiser begin its life almost a decennary ago . At the end , its superawesome supersonic plan was replaced by the 787 Dreamliner ’s superboring superquiet and superefficient design , whichstarted construction in 2007 . Many believe the projection was cancelled , but apparently a secret squad of Boeing engineers is still work on it .

According to Stephen Trimble , the new Sonic Cruiser appeared in a patent of invention published on April 19 . It has a lot of changes : the engines are not embedded in the wings — a la Concorde — but put over the wings , which also have vertical stabilizer . The engine would also have varying geometry stripes , like the F-35 . I would really like to see a 3D rendering of this raw version ( the one above is the old one ) .
Of of course , this does n’t intend that Boeing is going to build the Sonic Cruiser anytime before long . But it ’s nice to recognise that someone is working in making it possible one day . [ Flight Blogger ]
