The two major plot in tonight ’s Defiance let in a wearisome marriage ceremony between two boring characters , and then the uncovering of an old murder in which you make out no main plaster cast penis was hold out to be entail . It should have been rote . Instead , we get the handsome judgement - fuck of Defiance ’s first season .
The wedding party was of course the Tarr - McCawley one , which has always been a snooze . So let ’s start with the uncovering of the corpse , which actually encounter during Alak ’s bachelor company at the NeedWant . But in the next flashback , he ’s beat Kenya in a way that seems jolly regretful but might ( might ) just be sexy ? Nolan does n’t give a shit ( partially because the possibility of Kenya or Amanda being the murderer is not farfetched at this point ) , and is willing to ignore the whole thing . But then the wacky little mixologist foreign guy from the NeedWant is found polish off — with weirdly downcast hand — and now Nolan has to care . fortunately , the blue hand cue him of some Castithan murder tool , so he decides to catch Datak , less because he has substantiation Datak did anything and more because he loves the turd out of check Datak .
This time , though , it ’s really for a aim . The pissed off Datak give-up the ghost to find oneself Rafe McCawley and criminate him of murdering Bell . Rafe denies it while Tommy hides and mind in , although he does n’t get to get a line the flashback of how Hunter brought a tongue to a fist with Young Hobo Datak Tarr , a battle only stopped by Rafe and his scattergun . Intriguingly , the two walked off together , intelligibly getting quick to discourse a partnership . I look to hear more about this finally .
So mystery ? Well , Evil Ex - Mayor Nicki walk into Doc Yewell ’s authority . EEM hopes it ’s because Yewell has change her mind about renew their former partnership ; alternatively , they get a flashback — one where Hunter Bell walks into the Dr. ’s office while she ’s study Nicki … and Nicki is very clearly not human . She ’s one of those genetically altered Indogenes , like our Channing Tatum - esque spaceman supporter from last calendar week ’s episode ! At the NeedWant , Hunter pop the question to keep his mouth shut for $ 100,000 ; EEM Nicki propose a replication - offer of her beating in his skull with her cane .
Back in the present , when Yewell asks Nicki why she killed the bartender , the person who had kept their secret for seven year ( he had accidentally stumbled upon the scene and then acquire towel ) , Nicki says it ’s for the swell good . To which Doc Yewell proposes a counter - offer : She injects Nicki with a paralyzing federal agent and tells her she ’s gone too mad to let live and poisons her and then sticks her in a car in a garage to make it look like suicide and she even write a lovely preeminence in EEM ’s manus , confessing for both murders . For the bang-up trade good .
HOLY SHIT . We barely got our heads around the estimation Nicki ’s is an alien , not know whether she ’s diagram against humans , or the other Votan metal money , or what , but then Doc Yewell murders her ! • I did n’t really let the cat out of the bag about the wedding party , but it had a few decent present moment for the Tarrs and the McCawleys . Rafe tells Datak he ’s willing his mines to the city after his last , which is actually a great idea since one son is dead , the other ran away and Datak might have Christie killed to get exclusive possession if Rafe is fit . Datak , again certify how he has no long - term preparation abilities other than “ GET MORE POWERFUL , ” is puddle and calls the wedding off . Alak has a hissyfit , Rafe come across Alak really enjoy Christie , Stahma seems authentically interested in Christie not being miserable and even makes her a human - style veil , and Christie does nothing because she ’s Christie . At any pace , the marriage go through , but if Rafe relented about the mine / will thing I ’m not indisputable . I do n’t think so , though .
• On the other paw , I feel like Alak and Christie ’s many , many ethnic wedding issues should have been worked out well in advance , sooner by the couple involved . I do not sense their marriage will be a felicitous one .

• Speaking of the wedding , I feel like it was as Castithan as hell . I intend , if this was the compromise , unless a honest Castithan wedding involves fields of flaming hippopotamuses dancing through field of operations of grapes while everybody wear sacred diaper or something , I experience like Datak and his cultural was top-notch - well-thought-of .
• Seriously , where the pit do we go from here ? I guess there ’s the E - Rep to deal with , but their threat is going to require to convert from “ looming ” to “ imminent ” pretty quickly , correct ?
