You want to run around like some wilderness badass . Climbing in the Rocky Mountains . Surfing in the Rockaways . Whatever . you may do it all if you ’ve got some warm , juiceless gear to slue into when the adventure is over . Can this waterproof back pack make it happen ?
What Is It?
It ’s a medium - sized waterproof knapsack .
Who’s it For?
Kayakers , surfers , triathletes . Outdoor adventurer types .
Design
A padded , pocket - filled ironical - bag you could strap to your back to carry 30 liters of hooey .
Using It
You throw in the stuff you want to keep wry , stray the lid and lock it , then open up the valve and wring out the extra line .
The Best Part
It ’s pretty all-fired waterproofed ! Rain , splashes , and even a quick dunk do not inundate this bag .
Tragic Flaw
It ’s not 100 % raincoat . A 15 - minute swim in the sea , plunk down often and keeping the bag mostly submerged , left the clothes inside unmistakably damp . Not soak , but wet enough . Too wet .
This Is Weird…
Ever fag out a packsack while swimming in the ocean ? Yep , it ’s pretty weird .
Test Notes
The chief pocket can also keep piddle in . When carrying several sopping wetsuits , it has yet to experience any leak .
The bag has a front interlock pocket for stow a moment of pixilated gear , but it ’s not big enough to store much .
When the main compartment is full to content , it ’s really heavy to get stuff into the other pockets , since they all kind of occupy the same space .

There ’s a intermediate - sized pouch with a water - resistant zip fastener that ’ll definitely be all right for rainwater . It ’s cryptic , though , and if you get any Baroness Dudevant in there it ’s a veridical pain to get it out .
The 30 - cubic decimeter size is a dainty place to start , some larger model could be used as a primary pack for trekking .
The primary pocket is wide enough to easily fit a 15 - inch MacBook Pro . 28 x 15 x 9 inches , to be precise .

The padding is minimum , but it ’s enough to make it quite comfortable .
At 2.4 Cypriot pound , it ’s not ultra - light , but it ’s sure as shooting not gravid .
A valve for rising prices / compression helps minimize bulk when carrying smaller loads .

After several use and little care taken to dry it out , there is n’t any noticeable mildew smell indoors .
Should You Buy It?
For most citizenry , yes , it ’s jolly dandy . If you ’re trekking through Cambodia during monsoon season , or doing a day - trip on a canoe , it ’s probably utter for you . However , if you need something you’re able to wear while you ’re up to your cervix in a river , this wo n’t do it perfectly — but it could float at the surface , partly inflated , without letting too much water seep in . deserving the $ 80 expense .
