The more I ponder it , the more I wish the overarching premise of Fringe – that there is a secret web of speculative guys who sell “ scientific innovation ” on the black market . Of of course the scientific innovations are things like teleportation machines and viruses that make your headland explode . And it ’s heavy to narrate who is a good guy and who is bad in this world of double - cross scientists , secret science lab , and irregular experimentation . Is elephantine troupe Massive Dynamic , which feeds on underground scientific discipline , a bad actor ? Or just amoral ? Is the government , which runs the Fringe Project , trying to halt the tough guys or just slip their science ?
All we lie with for indisputable is that agent Olivia Dunham is a proficient guy wire , and so is her boss Broyles . Her mad skill chum are also ( mostly ) good – Peter is an underground science guy who now break the law for great Department of Justice , and his Father-God Walter is a wholly bonkers brilliance who doses caterpillars with homemade LSD and starve cheesesteaks while break down goliath .
Last dark ’s episode helped solidify our scoobies , while also enfold up a conspiracy plot of ground from a few episodes ago . Agent Mitch Loeb , who is somehow involved with innovation terrorist Jones , has been conspiring with his wife to do . . . something . And now we make out what it is . He was building mega - viruses – giant versions of the cold computer virus that grow inside you ultra - tight , and toss off you when they burst out of your back talk like gooey tentacles that ( countenance ’s face it ) look sort of like blow job in reverse gear .
Speaking of inverse blow jobs , there was a lot of gleeful sexual perversion in this episode , include when Olivia was gratuitously stab in the near - ass with a giant needle when she was being held intent early on in the episode . ferment out that former Mitch likes to strap people down and jab them with things in his secret storage warehouse lab , and though we know that he was making the megaviruses we ’re still not sure why he was poking Olivia . So what I ’m saying is that though one cabal has been uncover , there are still others to hail .
We still do n’t have it away why Mitch was trying to pop epidemiologist with his mega - computer virus . We do make out that the two he killed had been tap by the CDC to be on some sort of privy anti - epidemic taskforce . And we also know that after he was captured , he tell Olivia that he was trying to “ save ” her with his back - jabbing acerate leaf and that she has no cue what is give way on and which side is the correct one . Is he secretly a good hombre ?
Or is Peter secretly a bad guy ? In this episode , his got to do more with his role as “ the sturdy fop who break the natural law . ” When Olivia ’s colleague wanted to do an illegal wiretap , he did n’t just call up the NSA like he would have under the Bush Administration – oh no , he could n’t do anything illegal . Which led to Olivia ’s 2d awesome fist battle of the episode ( the first was when she fought her way out of Mitch ’s secret science lab ) and the death of Mitch ’s married woman .
But what comes next , Fringies ? Olivia will carry on unraveling the Jones mystery , Peter will continue being badass , and also there ’s a whole new grouping of people to menace because Olivia ’s sister and niece are staying in town . I predict sister kidnappings . Also , there ’s this whole maturation problem with a guy call Harris from DHS . Harris hates Olivia for prosecuting him for sexually assaulting several cleaning lady , and has just get his strong belief reversed and taken up his old occupation at inner investigations . So sexual violation guy is investigating whether Olivia is competent and the Fringe division is worth spending cash on .
Menaced by government bureaucratism , jeopardise by felon scientific discipline , menaced by gargantuan corporations , and assaulted by mega - viruses ! Fringe is back , youngster . Get ready to cat some tentacle .
