Gizmodo Media Group ’s web property practice honorable , conversational news media about stories — whimsical or serious , joyous or grotesque — that thing , or should matter , to our readers . Some stories rely on our own reporting and ideas , and some reply to news bring forth elsewhere . The same rule apply .
No policy is sufficient to govern the conclusion that our newsperson and editors have to make on an hourly basis . But this policy should serve as a guide both to Gizmodo Media Group readers and staff member as to the kind of stories we should draw a bead on to in each instance : Those that enlighten , challenge , decode , untangle , excuse , reveal , and tell the truth .
They are guided by the following precepts :

Honest
We tell our reader what we know , how we jazz it , and why we believe it matters . We expose our conflicts , air out our preconception , and show our employment . We do n’t pretend to know what we do n’t . Our coverage is guide by a desire to help our reader read their domain , whether the subject matter is niggling or meaningful . We reject correspondence as a merit but embrace fairness , and endeavor to recognize the human race of those we cover . We aim to write honestly , transparently , and unsentimentally , but also properly . good reporting can be afflictive to subjects , and both they and our other referee are entitled to a reasonable account as to the purpose and period of a floor .
Uncompromised

We are prepared to say what others are too civilised , intimidated , or compromise to say . The people and institution who exercise power — be it political , cultural , incarnate , or technological — do not and should not exercise exclusive control of their public narratives , images , and personae . We will not limit or calibrate our reporting to fit an advertizer , bring home the bacon an advertiser access to a story prior to publication , or otherwise let an advertizer to shape a fib . Gizmodo Media Group sometimes receives a commission when readers buy product to which we link to in editorial post . When our author and editors compose about product and services , it ’s because they need to compensate them , and believe that our lector require to or should know about them .
unwritten
We listen to our readers , we do n’t patronise to them , and we decline the artifice and sanctimony of news delivered from on high-pitched . We do n’t take ourselves too earnestly , and we assure things as they are . In the chase of account and understanding , we cover the full range of rhetorical and authorship gimmick , from mischievous satire to passionate protagonism . As others have described our ethos , If it ’s interesting , it ’s news .
