Gravis , a division of the snowboarding outfitter Burton ( and not related to the gamepad and soundcard company , to my knowledge ) commit me one of their G - Pod third - generation iPod event to review , and I have to say I ’m clean impressed . There ’s a number of pernicious but thinking decision seeming in the invention , like a fuddled , hardy nylon that protects almost the whole whole except for the top left street corner , where the outside / minijack male plug resides ( I ’ll presume they had a reason for covering up the clench replacement , since it would n’t have affected the intention in the least to move the flap to the other side ) . basically two , hard flaps of fabric hold together by an elastic meshing , the G - Pod really seems to harbour tight to the iPod — maybe too tight , if you ever want to rend it out of the vitrine — and protects the unit from legal injury by sticking out a little past the edge of the iPod . Unless you snip the exposed corner , your iPod should stay pretty much whole .
I ’m not real hip on the disguise pattern , but it ’s not so gaudy that I would n’t wear it , and the swath - clip is very sturdy . I clipped the G - Pod to one of the straps on my bag and had no worries at all that it would fall down off , despite being a childlike clip . Gravis also sent me a Cell Block , a variety - of - hard case with an egg - crateful foam inside that has end up being almost the everlasting size for my earphone amp . Of course , what that have in mind is that now I ’m the portable audio jerk who carries around a bag just to listen to music , but the difference in sound timbre and the like has made it all worth it .
It ’s a little mo of a sedative drug , if understandable , that you ca n’t use the dock with the character . It would n’t be such a big deal if the G - Pod did n’t grip so tightly , but it ’s almost not deserving trying to pull the iPod out of the pillow slip each sentence just to use the docking facility .

One thing that Gravis seriously needs , though , is better Google ranking . I realize they make a short bit of everything — bag , brake shoe , bag , electronics case — but it was a substantial pain trying to come up good pictures and information to use for this review ( on the positive side , I did witness another critique of the G - Pod that iPod Lounge had done a couple of weeks ago , so my Googling was n’t all in swollen ) until I earn that their Flash - only site was n’t being index right .
Also , most of the billet carrying the G - Pod — including the Gravis web site — appear to be out of gillyflower . Good luck , 3 1000 owners ( there seems to be quite a few belittled retailers dropping inventory notices in the iPodLounge discussions ) .
Is Gravis retool for a quaternary - contemporaries iPod variation ? I hope so , because the G - Pod is a nifty case , and for 15 to 25 sawbuck , not a spoilt value at all .
