Jonathan Majorsfaced another legal setback this week when the judge in his domestic violence case declined his lawyer’s motion to set aside his December guilty verdict.

Due to the judge’s decision, the 34-year-old former Marvel star —who was found guiltyof misdemeanor assault in the third degree, recklessly causing physical injury, as well as harassment in the second degree in a domestic violence case related toan alleged fight between him and former girlfriend Grace Jabbari in New York City last March— will still be sentenced as scheduled on April 6.

Majors faces up to one year in jail.

Ahead of his sentencing, theCreed IIIactor “continues to draw strength from his friends, fans, family, and dogs, harnessing his art and creativity,” Chaudhry added in her statement.

“As he eagerly anticipates closing this chapter, he looks forward to redirecting his time and energy fully toward his family and his art,” she concluded.

ThoughMeagan Good, 42 was not named in the statement, PEOPLE understands Majors and the Harlem actress, who have been dating since last year, are still together.

The two previously stepped out at the NAACP Image Awards in Los Angeles March 17, and Goodspoke to PEOPLE about her state of mind.

“I’m in love, I’m transitioning, I’m healing, I’m growing [and] I’m getting excited about what’s next,” Good said. “Yeah, just a lot of things at once. But what I can say is, I’m the happiest I’ve been in a long time.”

Two months after Majors' conviction in December,The New York Timespublished interviews with two of the actor’s ex-girlfriends: Emma Duncan, who alleged physical and emotional abuse, and Maura Hooper, who alleged emotional abuse.

“Mr. Majors is preparing counterclaims against Ms. Jabbari," Chaudhry said in response.
