Almost a week afterNipsey Husslewasfatally shot outside of his Los Angeles clothing store, his grandmother is opening up about the moment her family first heard about the horrible news.
In an interview withCBS Los Angeles, Margaret Boutte, 88, shared that she was at her home last Sunday with Hussle’s brother, Samiel Asghedom, when he got the call that there had been a shooting.
According to Boutte, Hussle — whodied from gunshot wounds to both the head and torso— was the one who made the call, although Asghedom’sown accountdoesn’t state who made the call.
“He got the call and he ran out of here so fast. He never did that in the morning,” she shared. “Right away, I called his mother. I said, ‘Angel, something must have happened.’ I said, ‘Samiel jumped up, he didn’t take his shower, he got out of here so fast.'”
Although Hussle (né Ermias Asghedom) did not survive the shooting, his brother was able to reach the rapper before he passed away.
“Sammy got up there soon enough to start helping his brother. Ermias knew Sammy was there before he died,” Boutte shared.

In his own account of his final moments with Hussle, 33, Asghedom told theLos Angeles Timesthat when he arrived at Marathon Clothing Company earlier this week, he found his younger brother, with a bullet hole in his leg, lying on the ground in his blood-stained shirt.
It was at that point that Asghedom noticed Hussle had a gunshot wound in the back of his head, prompting him to start praying.
Upon arrival at the hospital, Asghedom said he spoke with a paramedic who told him he was a fan of Hussle and “respected what he was doing in the community.”
The medic then delivered the bad news and explained that they “tried our hardest.”
Boutte, who helped raise Hussle, went on to share with CBS LA that she’s “praying for"Eric Holder, 29, the man police believe opened fire on Grammy-nominated rapper and activist.
“I’m praying for him too. I hope he does not get killed in custody. Have enough time to ask God for forgiveness,” she said. “I’m hoping he’s sorry for what he did.”
A memorial for the late rapper has been scheduled for April 11 at L.A.’s Staples Center, according toTMZ.

On Thursday, Holder entered a plea of not guilty in court. The aspiring rapper could face a maximum sentence of life in state prison if convicted.
