A devoted pet parent is back with her puppy love.

According to WXIX, on Feb. 17, Hannah of Butler County, Ohio, reunited with her dog, who had gone missing five years ago.

On Feb. 16, Hannah reached out toClear the Clermont County Animal Shelter— an animal welfare nonprofit that helps find homes for animals in the Clermont County Animal Shelter — about her missing dog Will.

Based on photos that Clear the Clermont County Animal Shelterposted on Facebookthe day before, Hannah thought a senior dog named Rome, who recently arrived at the shelter as a stray, was her pooch Will, who went missing from her home in 2019.

Hannah included photos of Will, a golden retriever and husky mix, the dog’s missing pet poster, and a detailed description of Will and his whereabouts before he disappeared in her message to the nonprofit.

Clear the Clermont County Animal Shelter promptly responded to Hannah, letting her know that Rome was scheduled to attend the My Furry Valentine pet adoption the next day and suggested that she meet the dog there.According to the nonprofit, it was instantly clear that Rome was Hannah’s missing Will when the pet parent arrived at the event.

“Tears of joy flowed as Hannah rushed to the location where Rome was, and as she rounded the corner, there he was—her faithful companion, Will!” Clear the Clermont County Animal Shelter wrote on social media.

“The reunion was nothing short of magical, a testament to the unwavering loyalty and love that exists between humans and their four-legged friends,” the nonprofit added.

Will is now back with his loving owner, who never gave up hope she would see the dog again. Hannah’s pup was 6 years old when he wandered off from his home and disappeared in 2019. Hannah and her family searched for the canine for months but found nothing.

It is unclear where Will spent the five years away from his home with Hannah, but he endured the time well. Despite now being 11 years old, Will is still full of youthful energy, according to Clear the Clermont County Animal Shelter.

“The heartwarming story of Hannah and Will’s reunion serves as a reminder of the incredible impact that social media can have in bringing communities together, especially in times of need. Thank you all for sharing Will’s post,” Clear the Clermont County Animal Shelter concluded its post about Will’s reunion with Hannah.
