TheMean Girlsactress, who stars as Regina George in the new film after playing the queen bee on Broadway, tells PEOPLE she’s forcing her costar Briney, 25, to sing karaoke at her birthday party this week.
TheSummer I Turned Prettyactor plays Aaron Samuels in the new musical reimagining ofMean Girls, one of the few roles that doesn’t require any singing on screen.
“I don’t love to sing,” says Briney. “But if I [had to] I’d probably do some Billy Joel. I listened to only Billy Joel for, like, two years. I like his ballads.”

“But my go-to karaoke — like done-done — is ‘In Love with Another Man,’ Jazmine Sullivan. Like, if I’m with my friends and we want tosingsing and get plastered and really f—ed, absolutely,” she says. “But, ‘One Less Lonely Girl.’ Lesbian heaven.”
Damian actor Jaquel Spivey, 25, gets specific with Whitney Houston’s songs: “In my key, ‘How Will I Know’ or ‘I Wanna Dance with Somebody,’ because I think everybody and their mama knows it. But in my key.”

Tina Feyis back to write and costar as Ms. Norbury in the newMean Girls, which is a musical version of the story from the 2004 comedy movie. The new cast says the musical elements expand the story and allow fans to know more about the beloved characters.
TheSpider-Manactress adds, “It gives you more opportunity to get into the mindset of the characters and to understand the world they’re in. Also, music just gives me such a rush.”
Mean Girlsis in theaters on Friday.
