The mystery behind the sword found by a young girl in a legendary pool has been solved and it involves an offering to the Gods.
Despite being found at the bottom of a famous lake , it turns out thesword find by a young girl in a Cornish lakeisn’t actually‘Excalibur . ’
before this hebdomad , on a trip to Cornwall , 7 - year - old Matilda Jones noticed a brand lie on the bottom of Dozmary Pool while paddling with her beginner . They retrieved the blade — which was found in the same spot where the Arthurian legend say King Arthur ’s sword was left after his death — and the story went viral .
While the fable might say the brand was put there by Arthur ’s horse , Sir Bedivere , a adult male bring up Mark Wilkins claims it was in fact him .

“ I throw it in the lake in the eighties and was n’t await to see it again , ” Wilkins tell . He said he threw it in the lake as an oblation to the Celtic gods .
“ Back in the 80s I was very into spiritualism and followed the Celtic faith , ” he say . “ It ’s well known in Gaelic belief that if you desire to honour the Gods you could make a ritual killing or an offering . ”
“ I ’m Cornish through and through so for me myth and legend are everything , ” he added . “ Cornwall is steeped in fable and because of the history of Dozmary Pool and King Arthur . I decide to make an offer and give the sword back . ”

“ I did n’t offer the brand for anything particular , only to respect the fable , ” he enjoin .
The caption says thatExcaliburwas give to Arthur by the mysterious Lady of the Lake , to give him peculiar powers in battle .
Wilkins said he bought his brand , the ‘ Flambard Fantasy ’ from ‘ Battle Orders UK ’ to use in conflict reenactments for the local celebration of Heritage Day in Bodmin .

“ The funniest affair is that I have people who can vouch I had the sword back then because I had a phase when I would have a few drinks and go around knighting the mass of Bodmin when I lived there , ” he tell .
The legend claims that the sword could only be retrieved from the Dozmary Pool by the rightful Queen of Britain , and Wilkins say he ’d like to believe that .
“ Sir Bedivere threw the brand in the lake , as did I , and now the lake has given the sword back , ” he said . “ The lake decided to give it to somebody worthy . ”
Wilkins said it was comic how much insistence the story was give , as he ’d almost forgotten about the brand after drop it in the lake all those year ago .
“ I loved the photos , ” he say . “ It was quite funny really because the blade is so much big than the little female child . ”
He added that he ’s not taste to slip the glare from Matilda , but that he ’s but shedding light on the sword ’s true account .
“ I love the caption , ” he said . “ I hope for her it ’s a magical matter and that she gets force from it . ”
