Tammy Slaton’s vaping habit is keeping her from getting skin removal surgery.
In the season finale of1000-Lb. Sisters, the 38-year-old traveled to Pennsylvania with her sisters Misty and Amy to visit a new plastic surgeon in hopes of getting approved for skin removal surgery. Her last surgeon told her that his team wasn’t able to handle an extensive case like hers.
“I want skin removed pretty much everywhere on my body. My legs, my stomach, my arms, my face. I wish it was possible to just do all of it at once,” she said. “I just want to be able to walk around better without losing balance. It’s hard to walk because of the skin. I walk like a daggone penguin. My belly goes this way and I’m going that way.”
After meeting with Dr. Peter Rubin, a Pittsburgh-based plastic surgeon, Tammy gets approved for skin removal surgery for her lower stomach and chin. He explained that other parts of her body will need to be done in separate surgeries.

Tammy is all smiles after hearing the news.
“I’ve been waiting to hear that I can get my skin removal for so long,” she said. “When I get rid of the skin, I’m going to be a brand-new me… better. I’m going to become a model and walk the catwalk.”
Despite Rubin agreeing to the surgery, he told Tammy that he reviewed her labs and she needs to get her protein levels up. He also asks if she has any problems with her lungs before the reality star revealed her secret habit.
“So there’s one thing I haven’t told my doctors about and it could mess up the chances of having skin removal,” Tammy shared. “I do vape. I mainly use it for anxiety. It helps calm me down.”
“Right now I am vaping every day, several times a day,” she continued. “Even sometimes I’ll get up in the middle of night and I hit my vape a couple times and I’ll go back to sleep.”

“So #1 we got to get you off the vapes completely, #2 the nutrition is really important. We got to get those numbers up. That’s going to take about two months minimum,” he told her. “So we can’t schedule the surgery now until we can get all these things worked out.”
Amy admitted that Tammy’s vaping has turned into an addiction. “I know it’s going to be really hard for her to quit vaping because instead of turning around one addiction, she went to another one. She went from food to vaping,” she said. “I think it’s her security blanket at this point.”
During a confessional, the1000-Lb. Sistersproducers asked Tammy if she’s worried about not being able to quit vaping.
“I don’t want to talk about vaping. I think I might need a five ‘cause I’m gonna flip. I’m pissed now,” she said before storming off. “I don’t give two s— about it.”
Tammy is then heard hitting her vaping behind the scenes.
