Stars across Hollywood are reacting to the death ofAndre Braugher.

PEOPLE confirmed that the actor, known for his roles in shows such asHomicide: Life on the StreetandBrooklyn Nine-Nine,died on Monday after a recent illnessat the age of 61.

One of the first to speak out wasTerry Crews, whoworked with the actor onBrooklyn Nine-Nine.

“Can’t believe you’re gone so soon. I’m honored to have known you, laughed with you, worked with you and shared 8 glorious years watching your irreplaceable talent. This hurts. You left us too soon,” Crews, 55, wrote onInstagram.

Crews praised Braugher for teaching him “so much” and expressed that he was “grateful for the experience of knowing you.”

“Thank you for your wisdom, your advice, your kindness and your friendship. Deepest condolences to your wife and family in this difficult time. You showed me what a life well lived looks like,” he added.

Niecy Nash-Bettsalso reflected on working with Braugher on the hit sitcom, and wrote in her ownInstagram post, “RIP@andrebraugher🥺 we so much fun on set of@brooklyn99when I played his sister. Just a real cool guy….. my deepest condolences to his friends & family 🙏🏾.”

Viola Davissharedan Instagram tributefor her costar inABC’s secondLive in Front of a Studio Audiencespecial, writing, “Heartbreaking. You went way too soon. I loved every minute of working with you….your talent, your bottomless heart, your love of your family….your wife. You were a great man. God bless your children, your beautiful wife ….. Marc Evan Jackson, who played Braugher’s onscreen husband inBrooklyn Nine-Nine, shared a touching photo of the two onX, formally known as Twitter, and wrote, “O Captain. My Captain.”

The official Peacock andBrooklyn Nine-NineInstagramaccounts shared ajoint postthat read, “Always our Captain. We love you, Andre.”

Throughout his career, Braugher received11 Emmy nominations. He won his first Emmy in 1998 for outstanding lead actor in a drama series forHomicideand secured his second win for the 2006 miniseriesThief.
